Airplane Seating Tips

Monday, December 5th, 2011

As we all know too well, traveling by airplane with little ones can be stressful for the whole family. So before booking your next flight, you might want to reconsider your seating arrangements. Here are some ideas that you might find helpful:

One child seating:
1 child and 1 parent in 20B and C
1 Adult in 19C

Two children seating:
2 child and 1 parent in 20A,B and C
1 Adult in 19C

Three children seating:
2 child and 1 parent in 20A,B and C
1 child and 1 Adult in 19B and C

The goal of this seating arrangement is to allow each parent time to sleep, read or just step away. It also prevents one of the biggest complaints I’ve heard on planes (usually muttered in a discrete but still audible tone), “I don’t want to seat in front of that kicking child.” Knowing that it is your child doing the kicking, you might save yourself a few dozen apologies to the stranger sitting in front of your child.  Hopefully this tip will prevent you from being “that family” on your next flight. - Eric Gasser
